The Department of Nursing Studies and the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Vic-Central University of Catalonia (Manresa Campus) invite you to take part in the first edition of International Days on Genomics in the nursing profession: an emerging topic. The event will be hybrid and will take place both online and on site in Manresa on 26th - 28th October 2022.
GENOMICS
It plays a key role on personalised medicine. The data provided by genomics are already being used in cancer treatments and are also being thoroughly studied in the context of public health to prevent chronical diseases such as diabetes, coronary and heart diseases.
NURSING
We need to deepen our knowledge on genetic and genomics as well as on codes of ethics in order to provide appropriate counseling to patients and their families. This expertise will also enable patients to base their decisions on evidence-based information.
GUIDELINES
There are no European guidelines on how to train genetic and genomics in nursing degrees. Programmes on how to apply genomics in the nursing profession would benefit both university curricula and active practitioners. High quality training leads to high quality care and safety for our patients.
