CISARC

International Centre for Clinical Simulation and High Performance

The International Centre for Clinical Simulation and High Performance (CISARC) of the University of Vic - Central University of Catalonia is a programme of accelerated learning and innovative experiences in a clinical setting.

CISARC is dedicated to three main areas: the development of clinical high performance teams, clinical innovation and support for applied research and consultancy services and project development.

Simulació clínica

A pioneer centre in clinical simulation in Catalonia

Simulation is an educational tool for learning and assessment based on reflective and experiential practice which implies a profound transformation in the way the training of healthcare professionals is understood. In the simulation area, a situation is recreated which is very similar to the real one (hospital room, consulting room, intensive care cubicle ...) but which is much safer for both the patient and for the professional.

Simulation also incorporates emergency drills as a complementary activity for the evaluation and diagnosis of plans, procedures, alarms and warning systems, evacuation plans, first aid and rescues in situations of emergency and/or disaster.

The International Centre for Clinical Simulation and High Performance (CISARC) uses the facilities of the University Clinic (CU+) to carry out most of its activities.

CU+ boasts an area of more than 1,000 m2 for practical simulation situations, equipped with cutting-edge technology, especially with regard to its surgical facilities, which are the most state-of-the-art in Spain.

Simulació clínica
accelerated learning and innovative experiences

CISARC takes advantage of simulation methodology for training healthcare professionals and improving the organisational development of companies in this sector in order to increase patient safety, reduce errors and adverse events and foster new innovative clinical practices.

Simulació clínica
simulation as a driver of change

The use of clinical simulation and state-of-the-art technological resources allows the recreation of complex and challenging scenarios to foster a learning experience which is stimulating, innovative and efficient. When faced with a particular situation, individual responses of the participants, as well as those of the rest of the team, are recorded for later analysis and evaluation.

Simulació
learning and assessment based on reflective and experiential practice

The methodology of the clinical debriefing teaching approach improves the learning experience from the analysis of the individual’s own performance as well as that of the team.

Clinical simulation

The design of clinical simulation activities follows a logical pattern that goes from the detection of needs within the organisation to the analysis of results which will also affect the organisation.
